forex was founded in 1927 by shaving Gyllenspets at the central station in Stockholm. Many of the customers were tourists and needed to get veklset money. Barber shop eventually became a small vekselerkontor which until 1960 was operated by the State Järnvägar. Travel agency owner Rolf Friberg, who today is chairman and owner of the company, was in 1965 offered to buy the company to provide value service to its customers. Forex was until the early 1990s the only company other than banks, as Swedish Riksbank had given permission to trade currency. Forex has since 2003 worked as a bank in Sweden. The biggest competitor on the Swedish market for forex, X-change, was acquired in April 2007.
